Rain was announced for the second round of the Drift Mania Canadian Championshipbut we got beautiful sunshine for this round instead. Even the meteorologists could not keep the avid amateurs from attending this adrenaline-charged event. Luckily for us, the rain only came pouring down after the event.
Clipped bumpers and burnt rubber were aplenty, as the level of skill has increased throughout the years. There was a time when Marco Santos was truly untouchable behind the wheel, and reigned upon the Canadian drifters. This time around, the competitors have definitely stepped up their game.
Round 2 of DMCC is to be remembered by the Cyr/Santos tandem; the crowd enjoyed it so much, that they’ve asked for another run. Twice.
Patrick Cyr won over this round against the mighty giant, as Marco spun out in the first corner of their last run. It is seemingly due to a bodily injury he’s inflicted to his hand. Nonetheless, this show alone was worth attending the second round.
My personal favorite of the show was definitely Patrick Cyr, with his little hachiroku. Displaying blazing speed and agility, Pat was able to surprise more than a few by going against the big dogs and keeping up with their pace.
Although, he didn’t earn the top score, he still managed to mark 95 pts, led by Scardocchio (108 pts) and his black S13, and trailing behind is Hideki with his mighty R34 (82 pts).
Final closing comment: A huge thanks to BFGoodrich for providing seating pads to all the spectators.
