For the love of the SEMA Redeye

While a redeye flight can be grueling if you can’t sleep, after a whole week out in the desert at SEMA it’s certainly welcomed. Only 2 hours left and I will be home, but 5 hours ago I was just leaving the breakdown of my booth.

This year SEMA was certainly slower then I can remember, however a lot of good came from it. First off, SEMA did not feel as bad and slow as everyone was saying it would. Second it was extraordinary indication about the industries state and the possible health of various companies. While a good number of companies were not able to show a lot of the companies that were there are the STRONG companies that will be serving you great products all year long!

With that said this SEMA was packed full of new GTR’s and EVO X’s. There were plenty of other cars but these two cars seemed to really just be everywhere. I’m not sure what it is but I still just LOVE SUPRAS!! Sometimes I find myself thinking if someone was to offer me a choice of a Lambo or a supra, which would I take? Man I’m not sure, that’s so tough…HAHA. It’s kind of like that scene in the first Karate Kid movie where Mr. Miyagi gave Daniel SAN the choice of one of his cars for his birthday.

The SEMA show is a show where million dollar cars are not impressive. WHY? Well that’s simple, every other booth is showing one. Don’t get me wrong there was this Ferrari Scuderia that almost made me weak in the knees. But this year companies were showing off OLD school cars to get out of the noise. Konig (shameless plug) used Jason Whitfield’s (of Whitfield Racing) EK Civic, with a 2000 SI noise, k20 swap, and a big turbo. I saw a few Supras, RX-7’s, an Integra, a eclipse, tons of older hot rods, a few older Porsches, Ferrari’s, Lambo’s and some other cars. Honestly it’s sick to think we are approaching 2009 and my 97 Eclipse is OLD SCHOOL. COME ON!!!

Anyhow it was a great trip, a great show, and its AMAZING TO BE HOME! In the automotive industry years aren’t marked from January 1st to December 31st but rather from SEMA show to SEMA Show. So for all intended purposes HAPPY NEW YEAR! Lets kick this one off with BITCHIN projects, safe races, and a commitment to support this industry that we still love so much! I didn’t have a ton of time to take pictures but I will get some pictures to the good guys of Intuned in the next few days.
