SCP Evolution 2016

05 May, 2016

After a 9 year hiatus the SCP Show returned to Montreal for SCP Evolution. As a writer, competitor and enthusiast I was excited across the board when I heard they were bringing back the show which basically started it all for the tuning scene in Montreal. To those reading who aren't familiar with SCP or the younger generation just figuring it out, this was the show of shows for the Montreal tuning scene.

Each year everyone would push the limit of their builds to get ready for SCP which usually took place towards the end of the year, for the longest time it was also a points event for NCCA competitors and after the show which took place in the late fall; competitors would take apart their builds and start again on planning for next years show.

This year changed venues and took place earlier in the season and brought out the best of the best in the Montreal car scene, competitors from across the province came to showcase and compete ranging from Low Riders, Classics, Rat Rods and Exotics and everything in between. Indoors the Pirelli Concourse D'Elegance showcased the Pro competitors while outdoor competitors competed in the SONAX showcase. In addition to the custom cars, Pirelli and Lamborghini hire Melbourne showcased some of the best and brightest of the bulls as well.

Other awesome features were the walk of ages as cars from earlier SCP's were showcased including the original shirts from the events. Formula Drift Canada was on site providing drift demonstrations in an area behind the venue. Other big news was changes moving forward for the Coupe du Quebec (The Quebec Cup) this award was giving out annually at SCP for the builder who achieved the most points during the event. Now the Coupe du Quebec will be renamed in honor of Jimmy (Jimballs) Rotondo who the automotive community lost earlier this year in a tragic accident. In honor of recognition for their contributions to the Montreal Automotive scene, this year's recipient is none other than Jeremy Glover from (JAG Imaging). Now that Evolution is in the books we look forward to the rest of the 2016 season and anxiously hope for the announcement of SCP again in 2017.
