Sonoma Drift 2013 Round One

04 Mar, 2013

Sonoma Drift, which will run in conjunction with the weekly Wednesday Night Drags program, will provide a safe, legal and controlled environment in which professionals and amateurs can hone their drifting skills. Drifting is a high-skill motor sport that calls for drivers to control a high-horsepower car while it slides sideways at high speed through a marked course. Drivers are judged on execution and style rather than who finishes the course fastest.

Drift School WA is offering professional drifting courses if you wish to learn or test your skills. They offer different experiences to different individuals of varying skills.

Each week, racers will compete on a specially-created course in the Raceway paddock area. Entries are expected to range from 600-horsepower Nissan 350zs to American-made muscle cars. All cars must pass a simple technical inspection before drifting competition begins at 4:30 p.m.

“This program has terrific potential. We have a very active and enthusiastic drifting community in the Bay Area, and the raceway is the perfect place to offer this sport in a safe environment for both participants and spectators,” said Steve Page, President and General Manager of the raceway.
